I have the itch for a new pistol. My current EDC is a 3914 which I love. Wish it had higher capacity, but not that big of deal.

I really like the M&P 9 and 9C. The C is such a similar size to the 3914 but higher cap. Should i get the 9c for EDC and use keep the 3914 for home defense... or keep carrying the 3914 and go with the full size m&p for home defense/range gun?

Opinions please... i know everyone has one!

I have a 3954 and my wife has a 9C. Both are great (although I think I'd prefer a 3913 to the DAO 3954). The 9C is chunky to my liking but a good shooter. Some complain about the trigger but I find no issues with it. Different strokes ...

If it were me, I'd keep the 3914 and buy a full-sized M&P9. Popular gun, not expensive, accessories are abundant and decent resale value.

Besides, if 7 hits don't kill it who's to say that 12 will?!

I also have a 5906 for home and range. Although they're no longer made so you would have to buy it used, you may consider one as it's the best autofeeder Smith has ever made, IMO.

Big, I carried a Sig P250 subcompact 40 in a DeSantis Sof-Tuc for serveral months and it was very concealable and comfortable to carry. The reason I mention this is the P250 subcompact is almost identical in size to the M&P 9c. The reason I got rid of my 250, was to get the M&P, because I like the trigger, and weapon better. I don't think that you would be disapointed in that for a carry. On the other part, capacity. If you have 8 or 9 and can't (at least) scare him so bad he has to change pants, I don't think more bullets are going to help! Just my opinion, you understand. ;)>

I like my Sig P250. It will carry 13 rounds of .40 S&W. The trigger takes a little getting used to, but its a great gun. This will be my EDC when I get my 686+ in the spring.

Thanks for the replies guys. The higher cap mags are really for when i take it to the range. I have no doubt in my ability with the 3914 for edc with 8+1. i can keep a 3in grouping at 7yards from a draw w/double taps and 5in at 15 yards.

The damn thing is so sweet and fits so nice in my hands.

I think i may just go with the m&p9 for a range gun/home defense.

The only problem is I am like a woman is with shoes when it comes to pistols. I want most of them i see!!!

The only thing I didn't like about my Sig was the trigger. I took a class at KR Training, the Beyond the Basics class, and one thing I couldnt get past was the long trigger reset. When the rest of the class had fired the 4 rnds and were finished, I was still on #3. And i just couldn't place my shots like I wanted. I used a friend's M&P 9 and placed everything where even I was pleased. Well I said, i guess the 40 S&W is too hot for my skinny b**. Then I tried my cousin's M&P 40 compact, and was busting clay pigeons at 30 ft. So I have aquired an M&P 9 fullsize and I am looking (and am saving up for) an M&P 9c. Somewhere down the line I will get me another 40S&W compact. That size weapon carries great, even for a skinny guy like me! 5' 11" 160lbs. ;)>

The only difference between men and boys is the price of their toys! It doesn't say anything there about the number of toys, so you're good to go!

Thanks for the input.

Here's my revised plan ;-)

-M&P9
-M&P9c (down the road)
-a stainless Gen3 39xx or 59xx if i come across a deal i can't pass up!

Sounds like a good direction! My plan was that one above. Got sidetracked. i tried to sell my Sig P250 Subcompact 40, but no takers after 3 wks. A guy came along and asked if I would trade for a S&W 39-2 nickel. I researched it and traded. i thought I'll have a weapon more people have interest in and get my M&P 9c quicker. Found out I like the 39-2, going to keep it. Am now saving up for M&P 9c. Am ordering Fancy grips from Keith Brown for 39-2. So here I am, just as happy as if I had good sense! ( which my wife says I don't)!

Funny... are we married to the same woman? Cause mine says the same thing about me...
