Don't know about 4", but the first M&P Target was issued between 1899 and 1902.

This one shipped in Nov of 1904, with 6.5 inch barrel. All numbers match except the grips.

K137xxx is about early 1952.

Those grips on the nickel gun are especially attractive.

Those are factory pearls, and that is how the gun was shipped. They are
the whitest pearl I have ever seen. it was shipped in Sept of 1900. The
blue was shipped in Aug of 1901.

K1371XX was probably shipped in 1952. K135101 was shipped in April 1952 and K138892 was shipped in Feb. 1952, so you can see that S&W didn't ship in serial number sequence. The shipping room operated on the "last in -1st out" system when taking guns from the vault to fill orders. Ed.
