I couldn't find the original MSRP price for a 1994 5906, so I'm asking here. Someone has to know, thanks.

I paid 500 and change in Sept 1991 standard sights (cop shop price). Got the night sights a few months later for 100.00 installed. In 92 I bought a 6906 for 600.00 no discount at a local gun shop.

The link that Armorer posted said $751 with standard three dot sights. That was big dollars back then considering that surplus 5906's are going for ~$320 today, a steal today when you think about it.

Wow, so $700 in 1994, adjusted for inflation is now ~$1220.

Exactly, but what would the MSRP be today IF S&W were to actually make them today? (I know that it is an impossibility just due to the machines, tooling and the knowledge is all way gone AND the total lack of interest for quality all steel S&W pistols by all of us today, ((:rolleyes:,)) but....)

I remember reading here that “someone” with “insight” said it would cost over $1,200 today for S&W to make a 645 now days IF they could. That’s not including any profit. :eek:

S&W 5906.

Paid $ 569.95 plus $32.77 for Tax
$ 602.72 out the Door on 3/31/1999.
:D

In 1989, the first year they came out, they were $621 for fixed sights & $651 for adjustable.

The NOTE below it says (20) rounds mags were also available for it. :D

I remember they were pretty high , a nice clean used one now is going up and up .

S&W semi-auto pistols back in the day were always pricey. It has been my experience that firearms are a lot like cars. Always most expensive to buy when brand new and on the dealer's lot. Buying second hand from a dealer gets you a lower price, but with some dings and mileage. Buying used from the owner gets the lowest price, but not likely to come with any warranty or return policy.

If you hang on to it long enough, the value will bottom out and then slowly increase as quantity diminishes and if demand increases.

I bought a LNIB 5946 a couple years ago the gentleman said he bought it in 1993. Here’s the price tag $509.99

Yes, I bought a really nice LEO trade in from gunbroker for $325.00. I bought some new OEM grips from midway and it looks and shoots great! I took it to the range the other day and it shot 1 inch groups at 25 feet. Very happy with it.
