I had someone give me a 686-6 serial #cfz0384 product #164194 4” bbl. 7 shot curious what year mfg. A friend that passed away.

Welcome! In the standard S & W reference book prefix CFY is listed as a May, 2003 production gun. If you have the original box with end label we can get even closer with an age estimate.
