What's a prewar K-22 worth?

I'm looking to make my first prewar purchase and have come across a k-22 with a 6" barrel. Condition to my eyes is maybe somewhere in the low 90% range, with a little pitting here and there. The gun is really pretty sharp, and the grips are probably 95% or better with very sharp checkering. So I was wondering what a ballpark price to offer would be, because I really don't know much about these prewar Smiths. Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Depending upon how much pitting there is, I would think somewhere in the $400 to $500 range would be about right

Forgot to mention that it's a 1st model(if that makes any difference) and that the serial number is in the 650000 to 700000 range. Thanks again.

Guess it depends on who is selling.90-95% with pitting sounds like shooter grade to me in any case.Is it a dealer who is offering it without pricing it himself,hoping you'll offer more than he would price it at, or someone just wanting to get rid of an old 22 pistol?

Ummm. Ok, if its in the 650,000 to 680,000s, its a first model. Much above 682,000 or so its a 2nd model and the value doubles or more.

Guns sometimes were made with options. K22s are one of those guns that can benefit greatly depending on how it was built.

First, a gun with pitting is pushing the concept of 90% past reason. If its got visible pitting, its lower than that to me.

But a K22 Outdoorsmans revolver with no options is still bringing $600 these days. Sometimes more depending on the region. If you add in a Humpback hammer and prewar magna grips, its above $1000. If its got its original box, it blow up to the $1500 range. If its factory nickel and letters, its at least a $5000 gun.
