We hear that phrase all the time in credit card commercials. But I'm actually just asking that question.

A few weeks ago the was a thread on P-38 can openers, and someone mentioned they carried one in their wallet. I tried carrying one on a key chain 60 years ago and accomplished never opening a can. I did open my pocket enough to allow all my change to fall to the street and also opened my leg enough to bleed all over.

So today I put a new in the "instructive" wrapper Korean War surplus, P-38 in the change pocket of my wallet. While I was there, I took inventory of the useful and boring items in my wallet.

Last week's lottery ticket.

$47 in small unmarked bills

Credit card

Driver's license

Concealed Carry Permit

3 discount cards for stores or restaurants

A list of daily meds

4-3/4" band aides

2 golden dollars

a folded $20 bill for emergencies (like ice cream cones)

a new P-38

And last but not least 2 paperclips! I get a lot of "The Look" about the paper clips! They are different sizes and left over from my days repairing gas stoves. There is a ring that defused the gas into small jets of flame. When people boil over the soup or whatever they clog those jets. The small diameter clip for the small jets, and the large clip for the large jets. Just carrying them has saved me hours of trips to the truck to retrieve something to clean the jets. Boring but practical.

So, What's in your wallet?

Ivan

Nope, no photos of family!

Cash, cards, key to open my trucks doors and tailgate, and a safety deposit box key.

Drivers license, roadside assistance card(AAA), Chase debit card, USAA credit card. Thats it. I am trying as hard as I can to be somewhat of a minimalist. My P-38 is still on my key chain from my Army days.

Used your list, I don't carry a wallet but a "half business card holder." Joe

The wallet has a little cash, a couple of credit cards, and licenses to drive, fish, hunt, fly and fix airplanes, send Morse code through the ether, and carry concealed deadly weapons. Social Security, Medicare, and DD Form 2, US Army retired ID.

On the other hand, you know you are an old soldier when your car keys share space with a P-38 and the key ring is a grenade pin.

Driver's license, medical insurance cards, cards for the stents and ICD I have implanted, credit cards, list of medications. I used to carry either $500.00 or a $1,000.00 dollars in the wallet , but haven't been able to do that lately, now it's usually less than $200.00.

My wallet contains various licenses, proof of insurance, vehicle registrations, membership/credit cards and a bandaid, but no cash.

My WAM (walking around money) is in a money clip that's wrapped with a rubber band and kept in a different pocket.

I also carry a murse when I go to gun shows and estate sales. It contains more serious money, purchase permits, a note pad, a pen, a bore light, a small flashlight and a loupe.

I moved Mrs. Chad's purse off the front seat of my truck the other day so she could get in. HOLY SMOKES... It had to weigh 10 pounds plus!
I haven't a clue what all she's got in there, but I suspect the list of what's NOT in there would be much shorter!!
