All my photos posted via Photobucket have disappeared, and the website does not even come up when summoned...

Anybody here know what's going on with these folks???

I see the website. It pops right up. Not sure what your problem could be.

That said, I stopped using them whenever they changed aka went bad...however long ago that's been. I was never all that fond of the site to begin with, and had no interest in paying them to store my photos.

Hopefully you have your photos archived in your computer, hopefully on external hard drives, too. Your photographs are to damn good to trust to an iffy site like Photobucket.

The other day the site was not coming up at all.

Yesterday it was coming up, but would not show thumbnails and would not upload. But the pictures are still there - just hard to find without thumbnails.

Today the thumbnails still don't show, but it will upload, and the pictures are still there.

My guess is they've done some sort of update that has a bunch of bugs.

A couple years or so ago when they announced they wanted something like $400 per year to do image hosting for 3rd party web sites, they did so a week after I had done my annual $20 renewal. I replied back and pointed out we had a contract and that they would honor that contract for the full year, or I would file a complaint with the NC AG's office. They left my account alone. A year later when my renewal was expiring I wrote and advised them of the thousands of images I had on various sites and the tens of thousands of views I get on those images every year. I advised them I was only going to renew at the same level I always had, and if they did not continue to allow the third party hosting there would be thousands of scars out there, each one bad advertising for Photobucket. They continued to leave my account alone.

We'll see what happens, but the last couple days I've been using Imagur as a host site. It's a bit of a pain as they don't do mobile uploads direct from a phone, and their app is a joke. But if Photobucket doesn't get its act together I'll drop them this spring.

I saw this notice on their site today:

Photobucket News

"We apologize for the recent service disruption that you have been experiencing these last few days.

We deeply regret that this happened and we are working around the clock to bring photobucket.com back online.

First and foremost, your images are safe. Our number one priority is to ensure that your images are secure and we have several systems in place to make sure nothing is compromised.

We will provide ongoing updates as we make progress to finding the full solution.

What happened?
On Wednesday, December 18th we experienced a total power outage at our primary data center. Due to the abrupt nature of the outage the equipment that runs the site shutdown unexpectedly. The immediate shutdown resulted in systematic issues when the power was restored. Unfortunately, due to this unexpected shutdown, we were also not able to rely on our backup data center resources.

What are we doing right now?
The process is taking longer than expected because the security we have in place requires additional processing time. Most importantly, our primary focus is to ensure your photos are safe and secure!

What are we doing to prevent these situations going forward?
We are in the process of migrating Photobucket to a more reliable environment. The environment will give us more stability and help us reduce these issues in the future. Once service is restored, our primary focus will be on moving your beloved images to this environment.

We understand your frustration and sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.

Thank you for your ongoing support,

Ted
CEO"

Back several years ago when Photobucket screwed everyone over, I pulled all my images off and loaded them on my new IMGUR account. So far, I have had zero problems with IMGUR, but I don't do any downloads from a phone or use any app, just upload from the SD drive of my camera. I would never go back to PB. BTW, there is (or was) a browser add-on which will allow you to see the old PB website images.

I used to use Tineypic.com;very simple to upload and find pictures for use in the gun forums I frequent. Couple of years ago Photobucket bought it.........you guessed it, Tineypic.com is no longer around as of about 8 months ago. I'll never use Photobucket.
