Is it just me or is something wrong. The neighbor left this box a curb side for 3 days before I through it in a dumpster. Nothing like advertising to the Thugs of S. Florida you just got a home safe

Sounds like you did the guy a favor.

I've been to Miami, scary place. It's a haven for thugs, drugs, and dealers.

Looks like he forgot to leave the combination in a visible place.

That's a good way to get the front of your safe all scratched up and marred.

Do you suppose the guy left the factory entry code intact, plus threw away the instruction sheet in the box too. Might as well make it easy for them.

With the bars on the windows and the infestation of weeds, is he just challenging the thugs?

You should have left it there - better they break into his house than yours!

AMICI

To be honest I thought of that but this is a shared alley way and my place is right across the alley. Not that I am an "honerable man" just covering my own rear end

When I got my safe, I cut up the cardboard and took it to work to toss into a dumpster, I dont think I am paraniod, But it's no ones business but my own,,,
Any good looking box doesnt even see my curb.
You are a good neighbor!

Back in 1970 my dad bought a safe to house my mom's jewelery and our coin collection. He filled out the warranty card at the store and had it delivered. Six weeks later he was robbed. They got everything in the house including the safe. The police suspected it was a pro, probably tipped by someone at the safe retail outlet. The pro evidently recruited some low life local talent as someone fixed a shot of heroin during the burglary - the spoon was left on the kitchen counter. My mother and 12 year old sister walked in just a few minutes after they had left. We lost a lot but could have a lost much more. NEVER pay for a safe with anything but cash and never send in the warranty card with the location of the safe listed. Way too many people have access to this information.

The apartment complex where I live has a dumpster dedicated to cardboard. At the very least I would have crushed the box to fit in the
garbage can and make it easier for the waste haulers.

Maybe it was bait so he could try out the contents of his new safe.

True Story:

I used to work in a large office building where the business management types had an office suite on the top floor all to themselves. They had a petty cash safe that usually held a few thousand dollars built into the wall in the secretarial area.

The secretaries got tired of having to go to a secret place to hunt up the combination, so some real genius taped the combination to the wall right next to the safe!!!!!

Sure enough, one day someone opened the safe only to discover that all the money was gone! It had been a week or so since it had last been opened, and any number of people had access to this office. Suspicion fell on the cleaning crew, but there was no evidence so the police would not arrest anyone.

How can a cleaning crew be arrested for cleaning out the safe?? They were only doing their job.

Looks like he's doing the thieves a favor. It was awfully considerate of him to put all of his valuables in something small enough to be carried out of the house and opened at a time and location of the thief's convenience.

I have a floor safe in my reloading room in the garage, if anyone ever steals it I hope they use a cutting torch to try and open it..............There is about 20 lbs of black powder in it. But then their relatives would probly sue me.
