Yeah I for one am in the market for a 4" model 29, but don't want to buy one with the hole if I can wait and get a non-lock version in the near future. He's referring to new ones. I would imagine at least a year. Since they have begun they must know people prefer the no-lock configuration. Having those on the market simultaneously with lock guns would, I imagine, slaughter the value of the IL inventory still out there. Slowly phasing in the no-IL guns would be better for the stocking dealers and distributors.

Yeah, only problem is that locking versions will likely lose value after the non-lock versions are released.I completely agree with you that the 'hole' was a bad mistake.
But I sincerely believe that its reliable as the rest of the firearm.
Same here.Yeah I for one am in the market for a 4" model 29, but don't want to buy one with the hole if I can wait and get a non-lock version in the near future.
The locking version is not as valuable as the no lock version now!Yeah, only problem is that locking versions will likely lose value after the non-lock versions are released.
Another thing is that the current models are using MIM hammer and trigger and God only knows what other parts are MIM!
