Does anyone have any insider information on when S&W will be filling back orders on 17 round 9mm mags? I have a hard time believing my order made in December is still not available from the S&W website. Thanks

I think its a safe bet that because of the short supply most of the mags are going into the kits for new guns that are still flying out the door.

along with the ammos supply I think things are easing up a bit so maybe by the end of summer if there are no more shootings then IMO things should start to get back to normal.

It is difficult for some, but the panic is still here, but not as bad. Magazines, ammo and reloading supplies are bought up as fast as it becomes available.

I make sure I am ready to buy. Also, if allowed, I back order a couple places and accept that I may get extra.

I bought mags I thought I might want. I do not wait for the need.

Also, I deal with places with realtime inventory controls. It saves time. In some cases, I hurry through a buy to avoid items vanishing while I shop. It costs more on shipping but I get the item.

Cheap like before? Not really that readily available (depending on your LGS) and where you live -- gouged - easily available....

At least S&W does not do what despicable SIG Sauer did during the 1994 AWB when they scammed everyone by supplying their pistols with only one magazine without a corresponding reduction in price and without supplying the second magazine after the shortage was over.

And then you have CDNN removing the extra magazines out of pistol boxes to sell as spares with many brands.

It is a pain that extras are not available, but at least S&W is not essentially stealing out of the gun boxes and from their paying customers in order to supply their federal ninja customers with plenty of mags.

Sorry for that rant, but it brought up bad memories, when customers accuse the dealer of stealing out the magazines when the darn pistol arrives with only one magazine and the customer does not believe you and will not call SIG or whoever. SIG and CDNN are two places that are not worth the hassle. Impossible customer service at SIG and CDNN removing magazines. Terrible.

That is the attitude everyone should take in order to have prices come back down. Once shops weather local or online start sitting on inventory, prices will drop.

Agreed. But because I'm too stubborn to overpay for something I could surely use, the next guy walking through the door that is still in panic mode is not.

Last week I received 1 of 2 Mags I have had on order from S&W since Late Dec 2012. I ordered an extra 8 rd for my Shield and an extra 12 Rd for my M&P-22. The 8 rd showed up last Thursday April 18th. So I guess they are sending them out whenever they can. I have a set of Dillon Dies that were in stock, and ordered on Feb 13th still havn't got them, everyone is way behind on everything! What crazy times we live in!

I wish I knew. I finally got my Shield mags I ordered from them in Jan but still waiting on my .22 mags ordered in Dec. I haven't even been able to find 17rd mags to even place an order.

Found a newer FS 9mm M&P in stock today with the thumb safety, new trigger, deeper slide logos and what-not. I have it on hold, but almost want to forgo picking it up since mags are non-existent or $80-$100+ on auction sites.

M&P mags are one of the most difficult (if not impossible) magazines to find now days. Add to this that there is no aftermarket manufacturer that makes them.

I recently traded my Glock 19 Gen 4 for an M&P 9 FS. I had quiet a few mags for the G19, and expected to buy just as many for the M&P, boy was I wrong! Did this mag shortage happen after Sandy Hook, or has this been an ongoing thing for a long time?

Thanks for the tip jdm..... I called and ordered a 17rd mag from Maryland Small Arms this afternoon. It will ship tomorrow. Now I can tryout my 9mm barrel in my new M&P40. Thanks again.

 I called yesterday and they said they didn't have any in stock.

ETA: Called again and all they have left is 1 FS .40 and some 13rd Compact mags. He said they're trying to get more in before the MD ban takes effect. Guess I'll have to wait until S&W fills my 2 mag backorder to see any. I think S&W needs to learn how to make mags in-house.

This too shall pass. It is very frustrating and when I see clowns/entrepenours trying to sell mags and ammo at downright insulting prces I just chuckle and move on. If you truly NEED the mag then pay the overpriced rate but there are other ways. I recently traded my 7 round magazine to another forum member for his 8 rounder for the Shield. He is a class guy and I would not hesitate to do business with him again. There are ways around this but you do have to be patient.
