I'm a new carrying member and would like to first try on a few gun belts to feel the difference, and I like making first-time purchases in person. Where can I find gun belts? I live in Ocean Springs, MS and so far the only place I saw that had any was Jerry's Shootin' Irons and they only carry black belts, no brown ones.

My range sells Galco belts so if you have full service range in your area maybe that would be a source. Have a couple from Beltman bought online, he has a very good/descriptive website, makes great belts with several options at reasonable prices. The website has very good info about ordering the right size, extra help/answers are only a phone call away.

Do you have any gun shows coming to your area in the near future? They always seem to have several belt and holster dealers and the best part is they are all at the same place! I know sometimes gun show prices can be high, but holsters and belts seem to be reasonable at the shows I have been to. I found a very nice belt for around $45 at a gun show at the Cow Palace in San Francisco a few years ago.

Try a police uniform store. The basketweave garrison belt may be too "cop-like" for you but the better stores have plain belts and ranger-style and nylon instructor belts too. The prices aren't all stupid like at the gun boutiques with the salesmen who try to tell you their 2" sturdy belt is better for carrying a gun than the same belt priced at 50 dollars less at the uniform store.

I can understand wanting to try them on in person; however, I have a great belt from Concealed Carry Clothiers (www.comcealedcarry.com). I have the dress belt. They're not cheap, about $89, but they're well constructed, offer great support for your gun, and last forever - unless you outgrow them. I've carried everything from a full size 1911 to a S&W J-frame on these belts. I highly recommend them.
