I used to buy cheap gun rugs at shows 3 for $10. Decent rugs too. Soft cloth with foam liners. Now,all I see are $7 or $8 bucks a shot and they look crappy. Anybody got a recommendation? TIA.

Try this web site:

The makers often have a table at the Philadelphia area gun shows and I bought one of their rifle cases a while ago. I think its very high quality for the money, Actually I think its high quality, period. AND, they are made here in the USA: Pa and West Virginia, I think. They seem to be a nice bunch of people who take pride in their products. I did not try one of their pistol cases. I'm going to pick up anouther one or two at the next show.

Tom-instead of cheapo gun rugs, I have been using gunsocks 6 for $20-they're silicone treated, they breathe and work well for storage.

I'm afraid of the socks Caje. Every so often,I'll drop one or one will fall while I'm digging around in the safe (old age). Less chance of an "aw siht" happening with a rug.

I usually ship sold guns in a rug.

I buy 100 cases at a time from these folks-

If you can get together with a buddy or two, and buy 100, they will cut you a deal.

Thanks Lee. That's what I'm lookin' for. Don't think I'll need 100 though!

I think I need a clarification.

As I understand it, what you are calling "gun rugs" really are rifle or pistol cases.

Among my shooting buddies and at the local ranges, indoor and outdoor, a gun rug is what you put down on the bench to rest the firearm on when you're not shooting it. And at at least one outdoor range, if you're shooting a revolver off sandbags, they require you to have one over the sandbag because of flash and escaping gases in the gap between cylinder and forcing cone.

I have seen same for sale, but I've been using old carpet remnants and outdated carpet samples for years.

Just thoughts in passing...

Just spent the better part of three hours and numerous emails with customer service at ACE Case.
Lee owns a business and has a Tax ID Number and can order wholesale.
I used to be able to about 20 years ago until ACE got in the retail business too.
Bottom line is that if I order 100 as an individual the going rate is $5.00ea. + shipping and handling. If I am a business the rate appears to be $3.25ea. +his.
Have not heard back from Unique yet.
If I can get a hit on a deal will post the results here.

Guess it depends on where you are. It is indeed a zippered handgun case to which I am referring. If you do a net search for gun rug,I doubt you'll get many references to carpet though.

Okay boys and girls,
Got a response from Unique. No dealer status required.
I am to call an individual in the AM and talk with him. They will give me a wholesale price of $2.85 + shipping on 100 rugs.
I have enough money to cover about 500 right now if anybody is interested.
You have twelve hours to respond and let me know what kind of deal I need to make.
Please don't stiff me on this one until Abbie gets her new heart.

zippered gun rugs (soft cases) that can handle a gun about the size of a 6 inch N frame (or 6.5 inch blackhawk etc) for a few bucks ? put me down for a dozen. bob allen rugs and Ace case rugs retail for about 9.95 around here. as long as there is a carrying handle straps and a D ring that the zipper can be mini locked to for more legal transportation. i try to buy one for each new handgun. the silicone socks still clank against each other too much.

edited to add: maybe start a group buy thread or in the classified. but i will commit to a least a dozen at $2.85 plus S&H. let me know if you need me to double that commitment

Unique Case order has been made made.
For future reference it is a family owned Mom and Pop business. Talked with the owner personally.
Debbie is now the sole Wyoming distributor and the folks at Unique are happy for the business.
If it works out we may expand to the rifle cases too.
They are great folks to do business with, unlike certain BIG SHOT manufacturers.
