Where did all the 38special go?

I have my local dealer looking, but the pickings are slim. I may end up with something that doesn't have a good track record for expansion in a snub (like the blazer aluminum series) or maybe buying factory 148WCs.

Try Buffalo Bore's +P LSWC- HP. Relatively expensive, but you don't need too much.

You can find plenty of .38 Special on the large online ammo websites, SG Ammo, Target Sports, etc. It's just so expensive now….

I love shooting.38s, that and .45ACP are my favorite target calibers. Glad that I reload!

As one guy said to me as I was shooting at the range one day, "I figured you for a wheel gun man." In other words..."you're old so you must be old-fashioned. That's why you carry a revolver."

As it is likely that he couldn't hit the broadside of the barn, if it ever happens again, you might say, "Looking at your target, it looks like you are a complete novice to handguns!"

Have quit worrying about expansion in a 38 snub, and would be pleased with a standard velocity larger meplat solid. Lot's of disagreement about that, but last i checked it is what S&W's 38 snubs are regulated to. And lots of loads that do expand may lack penetration, be expensive or much harder to control.

Like probably many others, I think my 38 has come out of the safe maybe twice in the last 15 years, don't need much ammo for it.

Online I can find a few speer 125s but I can't order it since I'm in NY.

If you can find it online, you can order it and have it delivered to a local FFL. If you don't know anyone local go on Gunbroker and do an FFL search with your zipcode. Lots of dealers that don't advertise locally.

I realize that when you add shipping and NICS fees it will be quite expensive, but you WILL be able to get it.

I have 2 local guys that charge $5-10 for an ammo transfer.
