I have not seen a WWB 100 pack of .38SPL on the shelf at Walmart in ages. I need about 400 rounds for some shooting. The only thing I could find today was 50 count boxes for $23, and that's just too much, I left it on the shelf.

I have about 100 boxes of factory 38 Special ammo of various manufacturers and weights, about 250 boxes total including .32, 9mm, 38 Super, .357, and .45acp. Started accumulating it heavily about 4 years ago, and slowed down about a year ago. Until fairly recently, it was even pretty cheap with shipping on Gunbroker. Not now, of course. However, there are still some cheap sources. At fishing show, trapping shows, etc. you still find folks with ammo who don't sell it on a regular basis, and let it go cheap. Within the last year I have bought a full box of Rem .243 100 grain for $5, full 50 box of .357 Win ST for $15, etc. Today I bought 42 rounds (one full box, two partials) of .32 Winchester for $19.95. But, I'm retired and get to go lots of places.

I honestly can't remember the last time I bought .38 Special ammo . . . must be at least ten years ago. When you find some, save your brass and reload the easiest and most rewarding to reload cartridge there is, amigo! :)

Amen Erich! I think I've burned about five thou so far this summer thanks to the Dillon(actually I'm down a few from past years, getting old I guess!).

As far as 38 Special, lately I have been using PRVI Partizan 158gr LRN for target shooing. Wideners has some for the ridiculous price of $13.90/50. Even when you add in shipping, it is only slightly more expensive than the bulk WWB's at your beloved Wal-Mart!

And you know what makes it even better than WWB's from Wal-Mart???

THEY ACTUALLY HAVE IT IN STOCK!!!

I have a couple thousand rounds and I have the components to reload about 3-4k more. I need to get to the range and burn some up. :)

BTW I saw some 100 packs at a Wally World near work the other day and it was about $35, but don't quote me on that as i really did not pay close attenion as I was hunting for standard velocity .22lr I'm down to just 300 rounds of that and it's a rare as hens teeth around these parts.

For .22LR, I have recently been using Centurion. Yes, it is more expensive than Federal bulks from Wal-Mart, but it really shoots great in all my .22's - rifles, revolvers and semi-autos.

I buy mine at my LGS, this place has the 38gr LHP's in stock, but not the 40gr LRN's.
