Not a children's book, but a website I've played with for over a number of years called "Where's George?" (Where's George? - Official Currency Tracking Project -). The idea of it is people can order a stamping kit from the company, ink-stamp American or Canadian currency, then enter the denomination and serial number of the bills onto the website as they spend the currency. I check my bills as I get them looking for anything stamped for Where's George.
Today I acquired a stamped $2 bill up in Hanover, PA at the bank. I put it into the website and got a hit on the bill. It turned out this bill was entered into the web site back in early 2011 at Arnold, MD, by Baltimore. Paper currency usually wears out pretty quickly but this bill took over 13 years to make it over the border from Maryland to PA. This bill must have been in somebody's stash for a long time because it's still pretty crisp. It's kind of fun to track the journey of a piece of paper currency.
