I'm starting to get back into guns but having a hard time finding ammo. Went to a shop today and they had a real nice .32 but no ammo. I'm looking to buy the wife a .38 and the only ammo I can find is over $30 and that's only if I look real hard. Even 9mm seems to be low or out of stock. Walmart got 4 boxes of 9mm in and I bought them all in fear I wouldn't be able to buy more. Most all online ammo stores have more out of stock than they do in. It's not just ammo, many guns I've been looking for are out of stock.

What's the deal? Is the economy making manufacturers scared they won't sell. Is it the news story about the our government coming back with more bans etc? Or is the government secretly involved in the low stock levels?

Seems like if they cranked out the ammo the sales might just fix the economy. At least a little.

Finding handgun ammo is like panning for gold right now. My searches are limited to 22LR, 38spl (no +P) and 44 mag.

My advice is buy it when you find it and the price is right. Wally world is almost always out. Clerks there tell me that people are buying it as fast as they can stock it.

Most gun stores have ammo in stock, but their mark up is high. It may be a regional thing. I live in Virginia and the gun laws here are not very restrictive.

Good luck hunting (for ammo) and happy shooting.

Also, thank you for your service to our country. I did 4 years peace time Army service, but guys like you is what made it peace time.

It is flying off the shelves as fast as it comes in. I was just in a wal-mart today and the clerk said that they sold 15,000 rounds of 9mm in three days. They are getting shipments but the first person that comes along will buy a huge amount (if not all) and then comes along you and there isn't any. (Check out my other posts). I have seen a dealers wife in our local wally world scanning the shelves to buy for resale, it's crazy. Also check out Youtube (type in ammo shortage) and see the panic.

(Posted on another thread by me) Went into my local Wal-Mart to check on ammo and saw an older lady checking the empty shelves also. I recognized her from somewhere but couldn't place the face until I went to the range that I was speaking about in my earlier posts. From the office in the back comes the same lady I had seen two days prior at the Wally World. Seems it is Ted's wife (the owner) and they have been buying up as much ammo as they can from anywhere they can. Lots of mark-up (40.00 for 9mm value pack WWB). Everyone is doing their part in the ammo shortage (from discount stores) as he had a lot and I mean lots of ammo. .45 UMC for 40.95/9mm WWB 39.00/Blazer Brass .45 38.95/.40 cal Blazer Brass 40.95. There is gold in them thar hills

I bought the boxes of 9mm Blazer Brass for $8.49 per box at Walmart. I live halfway between two stores so I'll be looking often. First it's gas and now ammo. But there is no legit reason to have an ammo shortage other than greed by jacking up supply and demand.

Remember Scrooge McDuck and his money bin? He'd swim around in his money.

Taxes took a bite out of that, so he filled it with ammo instead. He's duck paddling around, pantsless, along with Donald amidst a sea of 9mm and .380 as we speak. Solemn nod.
