If S&W made a new 3” tapered, round barrel, ejector shroud (think 3” 24/624 from the 80’s), round butt N frame snub in either .357 / 8-shot, .44Mag, .45 Colt, which caliber would you buy?

My choice, the 8-shot .357 Magnum, would be in the image of a round butt Highway Patrolman (brush blue finish, tapered shrouded barrel) in a "Bodyguard" configuration (humpback ala the early Model 38), with FIXED sights. Totally utilitarian, a no-nonsense combat handgun in a very powerful round!

I do not need a 3" tapered barrel

In the olden days the purpose of the 3" barrel was to have a full length ejector rod. Thanks to the current ball/detent lockup that is used on the revolvers, this same full length ejector rod can be achieved with a shorter 2 5/8" barrel

Now I would not mind purchasing a 3" Model 57 to go with my 3" 657 just to have a pair

Otherwise I already own examples of most of the rest of these calibers in barrel lengths that I like

I would not mind if they offered the Pug Nosed revolvers with adjustable sights :)

All they really need to do is bring back the Night Guard revolvers and the 3 1/2" Model 27s

I have what I want. Got 2 of the 2 1/2" barreled 325s. Ine has a titanium cylinder, the other I am going to replace the cylindeer with a 44 mag cylinder reamed to 45 colt and cut for full moons so it will fire 45 colts or 45 acps. I will have to trim the forcing cone portion of the barrel a bit to clearance the longer cylinder and recut the forcing cone, but I have that tooling. In 44s I have a dehorned 396, a 296 and a 696.

But, being a 45 colt fan, my choice in the poll would be a 45 colt.

A 629-5 Classic with ''unflutted'' cylinder and 3'' full lug barrel..

l call mine ''The B R I C K'':-)

Slimline 45Colt

Now if you were talking 4"-5" Bbl. I'd be
interested. 41Rem Mag and 45 Long Colt
would suit me.

I'd prefer a .460 Rowland. Lots of options from mild to wild and the speed of moon clips to reload.
