Advice please: Looking to pair a FO front sight at stock height with a factory blacked out rear, but not sure what width to pick.

Pistol is a M&P 9mm w/ 4.25" barrel. It is my only firearm. My use is SD, general target shooting, classes, and light competition (plan to start USPSA this autumn.).

I've selected 10 8 FO sights, based on brand reputation, positive reviews here and the sturdy mounting of the optic. The factory rear notch is 0.140". The factory front is 0.130".

What would be your suggestion for front sight width, out of the available widths?

Poll to follow.

Thanks in advance.

Cant believe this. I was going onto this site to post the exact same question. Was looking at the 10-8 website last night trying to figure out the same thing.
What I also didn't know was what the stock sites were. I don't have a caliper. Rich, did you measure them yourself or did you research the information?
I spoke to a fellow IDPA competitor with much more experience than myself and he said he liked the narrowest front with the widest rear.

Why would you not change the rear too? I don't get why not.

I run a 0.115 front with a 0.150 rear--plain black sights--on my Glocks.

When my eyes started getting old,,I tried the skinny front sight.
More light on each side, didn't help with my speed or accuracy.
So I went back to the .125 that fills most of the rear sight window..

Age is my problem too.

Seeing how much light on either side of the front sight is tough.

Just seeing the glowing green dot in the notch is good enough for me.

Good Luck

P.S. I went with HiViz and put a little clear epoxy on the rod to keep it in place.

Just ordered a 10-8 .160 tall .125 wide fiber optic front sight. Will install it with the stock rear .140 rear sight before I decide what rear to get from 10-8.

I'm sorry, I didn't realize this thread had any replies.

I ordered the 0.100" wide front from 10 8, and am pretty happy with it so far.

I believe I did a Google search for for the sight dimensions.

Erm, well, because I didn't see the point of spending $$$ to swap in a blacked out rear sight from say 10 8, for the same height stock sight blacked out with a sharpie. :)

Well new front fiber optic 10-8 sight installed. .125 with green light tube.
Stand by for test results.

175 rounds downrange yesterday with the new front sight. The Green FO worked well for me I was able to pick it up faster than the stock white dot.
Decided to order the .156 rear sight.
