What would be your list of most currently collectible revolver models*/barrel lengths or engendering iteration?

Second list: What models are so common or unappreciated to be generally non-desirable, unlikely to appreciate in value etc etc. Yeah, we know some people collect Yugos. So let's not go off on that tangent.

Why pay a premium for a gun w/box and papers if it is not a collectible gun? Yeah know what I mean? It is nice but...

My first list would include:

1 Snubbys and 3" barrels in most models.

2 Super rare items like an 8 3/8 HP (only about 100 made)

3 About 95% Performance Center Guns - why did they make a PC model 642?

4 Model 27-2 in 3.5, 4, 5"

5 Models 19/66 PR 2 1/2", 3"

6 Model HD 38/44

7 Model 24s seems to be in more demand since they stopped production. Before that they were a niche thing.

I can't comment on all the wonderful earlier models. Don't know enough.

My second list could include:

1 Most or all model 10s

2 Current bottom line revolvers: 442, 642, 638

3 Certain early alloy guns that did not make the grade. For example: Titanium guns that could not stand any kind of abrasive on the cylinder.

4 Model 53 jet cases

I will stop here to avoid getting further piled on...haha

Chime in with your list and comments.

* I wont include semi automatics b/c the thread would be confusing and might run longer than "Annoyed At Thread Drift".

These days just about any S&W revolver made before 1997 is going up in price and becoming collectable. In other words, if the firing pin is on the hammer, its more desirable than newer guns.

Mountain Guns of any type seem to always be hot ones...as well as any 44 or 45 target models.

Most N frames, especially triple locks in unmolested condition seem to do well.

Any 2.5-3" k magnum.
