A good used model 59 or a new Sigma 9mm.
I have heard a lot of negative about the Sigma but have never fired one. My niece has a Sigma 40 cal. I dry fired it, the trigger pull is a miserable 12 pounds. I have a good used model 59, it is a tack driver. I know which one I prefer.

I'd go with the 59. I've yet to handle a Sigma with a decent trigger. Good luck with your decision! Regards 18DAI.

Well, I traded an M&P 9fs even up for my M-59, and I think both sides came out pretty good on that trade. I can't imagine that any Sigma would be even up with anything but a VERY beat up M-59.

In this case, I'd go with the Sigma, as I've never liked the feel of the 59, and the Sigma feels good in my hand. On the other hand, between a Sigma and a 5900-series, I'd definitely go with the 5900 model. As good as the Sigma feels, my 5903 feels like it was made for me.

If it is to be used for carry, then the SIGMA as the 59s are not "drop safe" unless the safety is on, and I do not carry that way.

If it is to be for collecting, then the 59.

The 59 will have the better trigger, being a traditional DA, you can shoot SA or DA, while the SIGMA is DAO, and fairly heavy, usually - like 12 pounds or so. There is no real trigger job you can do to improve the pull weight on the SIGMA.
