I am looking at a early K22 Outdoorsman 1st model that has (I am assuming) incorrect grips.

I am unable to show a picture but will attempt to describe. Magna style with a molded in S&W logo in a off white or ivory colored material, either a plastic or bake lite. I have seen similar grips sometime in the past, and do not believe they are factory. Just wondering if this is correct or if these were ever offered on a factory model. I could not find a mention in the SCSW3.

In the mid '30's the Factory experimented with a synthetic ivory grip material that they called "Tuscoid". They are quite rare...the only ones that I have seen have been on a Reg. Mag. Don't know if any were ever made for the K frame. It will take some detailed photos of inside and outside to determine...Could be your lucky day!!

H Richard,

I've never been able to figure out how to attach URL's, but I've attached a couple photos of those Factory Tuskoid/Tuscoid Grips Bob mentioned for you to compare those on the Outdoorsman to that were on a Non-Registered Magnum in a Thread here some time back!! Hope these help!!

If you'd like to read the Whole Thread maybe someone will be kind enough to post the Thread URL so you can read it in it's entirety!!

Thank you very much. I don't think these are the same, as the S&W logo is just molded in the material, not a medallion. I'll get a chance to actually see them this weekend. I'll let you know.
