In particular I would like to assemble a K32? I have a model 15 and S&W K22 barrel and would like to have either a model 15 or 19 cylinder relined and chambered to S&W .32 long.

I had Hamilton Bowen build my K .327 Magnum using a Model 16-4 barrel, a rechambered Model 17 cylinder and a pre-Model 15 5-screw frame. That was the simplest and most affordable route at the time. There is no simple way for you to 'reline' a Model 15 or 19 to a smaller diameter cartridge. The extractor wouldn't work. You'll want a Model 17, 18, 48, 53, 617, 618 or 648 cylinder.

cgt4570, thank you.

I have heard that Bowen is no longer doing any S&W work. But, Cylinder and Slide certainly is. IMHO, Their workmanship is tops on exotic customization.

Just picked up today from Andy Horvath a model 15 converted to .32 long. Will have pics soon. I was lucky to find a 6" .32 PPC bbl abt a year ago. I snagged a refinished model 15 from gun broker cheap, timing good. A SWCA member helped me out and found a model 17 cyl for a good price. Sleeving a 38 cyl would be expensive Andy told me.

My gun from Andy had the barrel cut to 5" and he slab sided it. Installed a Weigand interchangeable front sight base. It was re-blues and he fixed something in the action. No sight rib, used regular sights. Shot it today and he needs to fix a cyl binding problem. I think the b/c gap is too small, he may have tried to make it real right.

Re-boring a .22 barrel is tough cause the guy at Clearwater reboring died a while back. Not sure who can rebore a barrel now.

Three years ago I gave Andy a model 17 and he made it a 32 long for me. Converted it to center fire and the bbl re-bored at Clearwater. Nice gun. Good luck, this seems to be a common caliber conversion.

I also picked up a 25-2 that he cut the bbl to 3 1/2" for me. Not sure if I will re blue it or hard chrome it yet. Also has the Weigand front sight base added. Both were stamped "Horvath Custom" on the bbl. Larry

My 8 3/8 model 17 barrel and a Model 48 cylinder are headed out to the gunsmith for a .32 conversion. After shooting the lame .32 long that goes back to break top days decided to chamber mine to H&R mag (that is more special than mag).
