who else has a Shield and a LC9S?

So having given up on the Glock 9SS for now I have been trying out other 9SS options. I recently bought a Shield and a Ruger LC9s Pro. I used to mock the LC9, but the LC9S is a much better gun. Trigger is good out of the box. Anyone else have both a Shield and LC9S? First impressions to me - overall the Shield is a little more solid, particularly with the extended mag, but the LC9S seems easier to pocket and the trigger is pretty good without the need for APEX improvements (still waiting for my APEX trigger kit).

I have a Shield, but don't have a LC9s. I do however also own a Ruger SR9c. I know this is a S&W forum, but I have said all along Ruger got it wrong with the LC9 and the variants that have been made since. They already had a great pistol with a great trigger in the SR series. All they had to do was make it a single stack. Instead they came out with the original hammer-fired LC9 which was awful. Well, now that they have produced a striker-fired LC9 they essentially have admitted they got it wrong from the start. I have fondled and tested the trigger on the LC9s which I have to admit is a lot better, but it still isn't a SR trigger. I love, love, love that SR series trigger. I have said before my ultimate out of the box pistol would be a no manual safety, no mag safety M&P with a Ruger SR series trigger. I just don't care for all the safeties on the Ruger and the ergos are better with the M&P which is why I go with S&W now.

When my mom got her permit, the first carry gun she bought was an LC9. After seeing my Shield (and trying to take it by force of guilt) she took the LC9 back to where she got it and they let her trade it back in on a Shield.

The LC9 is not objectionable to me, but that long goofy loaded chamber indicator I could do without.

As far as my LC9s Pro goes, no goofy safeties or LCIs. Just a sweet striker fired trigger. And only 17 oz. I like the Shield extended mag better but as far as out of the box performance, well, the LC9s trigger is just smoother.

i have an LC9s and an M&P 9c - i almost always carry the 9c at around 12:30. i like shooting and carrying my 9c, but the LC9 has a place for pocket carry and also for those few times i can't get away with concealing the 9c. I like the LC9s much more than the predecessor (i had one for a couple of years) and have shot the shield a few times. the shield shoots nicer due to the extra weight, but i would think that the longer grip would make it harder to pocket carry if that's your goal.

I have a Shield and have rented/shot other people's LC9S a few times.
The trigger on the LC9S is nice, but I guess I got one of the very good, non-gritty Shield triggers, as I don't think the LC9S's trigger is any smoother and my Shield never needed an Apex kit.

The perceived recoil is where I see the major difference. I don't know if the LC9S has a higher bore axis, but its recoil feels harsher to me than the Shield's. Like the original LC9, I can only shoot 20-30 rounds before my had/wrist starts hurting, where my Shield is an All-Day Shooter.

I have a Shield 40, LC9, and I have shot a few of the new striker fired LC9s models. My opinion is the stock Shield trigger pull is better than the stock LC9s trigger pull, but not by much.

COMPARING SHIELD TRIGGER PULL TO LC9s TRIGGER PULL

Both have about 1/4 inch of trigger take-up to start of sear pull.

Both have about 1/8 inch of over-travel.

LC9s has about 1 pound less trigger pull weight at 5.5 pounds.

The Shield has a short trigger reset of about 3/16 inch.

The LC9s has a long reset of about 5/8 inch, you have to release the trigger to almost the at rest position, to get the reset.

Both can have a somewhat gritty stock trigger pull.

The Shield is 3 ounces heavier, 1/8 inch taller, and 1/8 inch longer than the LC9s.

The bore axis is lower on the Shield than on the LC9s. The hand position is higher up on the Shield's grip, meaning closer to the barrel. This helps to reduce flip.

You decide which is better. I modified my Shield's trigger pull with Apex parts and my trigger pull is much better than the stock Shield, and less than half that of the LC9s, once you remove the initial trigger take-up. Currently there are no aftermarket trigger parts for the LC9s.

I have to disagree with you on the LC9. I've had mine a couple years and LOVE it. It has an amazingly smooth trigger pull. I prefer it to the the new striker fired. I like it better for carry as well because of the long trigger.

Ruger didn't get anything wrong. They were trying to be one of the firsts out on the market and basically bought the license to re-sell the Keltec PF9 with their own mods (mag safey, LCI, safety, extractor). Same thing they did with the LCP (Keltec P3AT). It worked and they sold a ton of guns. They knew what they were doing. All they have done is spoken to the market, the market right now wants striker fired shorter pulls.

I wish they'd listen to the market and come out with a compact 45. For cripes sake even Springfield catered to the vast 45 market with their XDs.

I have a Shield and LC9s. I like them both. The Ruger has a better trigger, and fits in the pocket better. But, after buying a 640 Pro, I may sell them both.

I have a Shield and just picked up a LC9S Pro at a Gun Show the other week. I love the trigger on the LC9S Pro.

The LC9s has such a great trigger pull, so much better than the Shield. Well I don't think so! Also the LC9s Pro has the same trigger pull as the LC9s. Ruger just removed the manual safety and the magazine safety and called it Pro. The original LC9 had a terrible long trigger pull (over 1 inch) that breaks at the very rear of the trigger guard. This was the number one complaint of LC9 owners, and it was a very uncomfortable trigger pull, but the gun would shoot.
