Greetings! I am in the market for a nice pair of roper style boots. Who here wears boots on a regular basis and what recommendations do you have? I have wide feet if that matters.

I'd spend up to $300 I guess, unless you convince me the perfect pair lies just outside that range.

I'm MUCH more into comfort, durability, and warmth than style or fashion, but you'd know that if you loooked at me!

Thank you in advance!

Lucchese . . .

Nakonas. Check labels for American made-and they have a wider area at the instep-easier to put on-get off-Elk hide scuffs-but won't get stiff after getting wet-and its soft.

Depends on how you're going to wear them. Work? Jeans? Suit and tie? (Don't laugh, this is Texas.) I wear boots every day. I'm wearing a pair of Nokonas right now that I've had for about fifteen years, still look almost new. I like Lucchese, they're a bit pricey for everyday wear, but they are a great boot. Justins are a good boot, too, especially if you want Ropers. Bull hide or elk hide either one will hold up to abuse really well. Dan Post is another company to look at, especially if you want a lower price-point boot for occasional wear. If you're in the market for boots, come on down to visit and I'll take you to the Justin Boot Outlet. Until then, feel free to browse...

Do you mean nocona? Or there another brand I need to find?

Nah-you're correct-just waiting for my medication to kick in.

I wear boots on a daily basis. Currently, my daily ropers are Ariats. I have had all the other brands mentioned, and I really like the present pair. I prefer the composition sole, ie... rubber, etc. Leather wears out too fast and once a boot is resoled it doesn't seem to fit the same. Composition is also less apt to slip in the snow or ice. My "work" boots are Olathe, two pair of them. I had slips put on the sole of the riding pair, the boots hold up well to manure. I've had, at one time or another, Justin's, Tony Lama, Dan Post, and Nacona. I also have a pair of Boulet, of Canada, ropers, but prefer the Ariats. Lace up White boots for heavy duty work. Did I mention I ranched for a living and have gone through all types of boots through the years, and durability is quite important to me.

I have to wear a suit and tie to work, and I pull on a pair of Lucchese Ropers 5 days a week. I have one pair of hand made Lucchese Caiman Tail western heel boots that I occasionaly wear with a suit. They are comfortable and look fine with business attire. On the weekends, it's usually Nocona's with blue jeans. Lucchese and Nocona fit my feet while other brands are not so comfortable. Sometimes you just have to try on different brands as they are all cut a little different. Bickmore-Blick leather conditioner will keep them looking good.

I wear these 5 - 7 days a week and I find them to be very comfy and they come in varying widths.

I use to wear only Justin ropers, Lucked up on a pair of Lucchese on sale at Shepardlers in Denver. Hooked on them. Look great and wear even better

I don't wear ropers, I wear real boots.

That said, I have a pair of Mercedes (elephant) that are 22 years old and still in good shape, although I don't wear them very often anymore. I have a pair of Noconas that I've been wearing every time I'm wearing jeans (fall, winter, early spring) for 11 years. Countless soles and heels. Still in decent shape with little care from me. You can go into most stores that carry Nocona and order the size, heel, toe, shaft, leather, etc. that you want, and you should have them in a few weeks. I have a pair of Lucchese that I wear about twice a month. I like the Noconas better.

Lace up Whites here!
Always wanted a pair of Whites but $$$$$$

Got my pair @ Wall Drug in S.D.
They had a single pair left for < $150, and damned if it wasn't my size, you know the size that takes a whole hide to make with nothing left over!

Fit right from the beginning, and still fit right, great for riding and walking!

Do the Ariats fit true to size? How are they on support? These boots interest me, primarily due to the composition sole. I presume they are imported?

Thanks!
