Tonights the night, whos going to be watching?

The wife and I will be!

In the fall I bought three seasons worth of Bluerays. We have been watching them on Sunday nights for a while now. The wife has been looking forward to this for some time.

And if you peeked by watching the season already no spoilers please...

What Matthew, isnt really killed?:eek:

We WILL NOT be watching tonight!

My wife has to get up at 4am Monday to get ready to go to work - so we record it and will watch it Tuesday afternoon :)

Downton Abbey is one of our favorite TV shows - We also watched every episode of Upstairs/Downstairs and are sorry to see it go.
We relate to the guys downstairs, btw.

I'm not giving anything away that hasn't been on before but, yes Mathew was killed in the last episode. Sorry.

One of the better series on the tube. Always interesting and beautifully filmed. Interesting to get a glimpse back in time to not only a bygone era, but to a fading social strata too.

Looking forward to another season. Great acting and scenery!

I made the mistake of reading a British on-line newspaper account of the furor that arose sometime around episode four of this season. (It has already played there.) Not sure I'm in for this season, and I won't post any spoilers, but oy vey. Lots of "this isn't what I watch Downton for" outrage.

I agree that the drama is well done, but I respectfully offer a different opinion. The world of wealth, class, and privilege enjoyed by the family proprietors of Downton Abbey is exactly the kind of world my ancestors wanted to escape. No matter whether american settlers came here to escape a lack of opportunity, religious persecution, or oppression of lower classes, it all traces to the selfish husbanding of wealth and power gained by folks like this through inheritance and/or grants from the royalty. I am sure these folks really enjoyed outdoor sports, especially hunting, because they had nearly all the money, all the land, and all the guns. I won't be watching season 4 of all this tiresome snootiness.

This is a TV show…right?

I sat down to watch it once with my wife last year and got hooked. It is historical fiction of the highest order. You can see cultural struggles and how society evolves.

I wonder if the landed gentry still has or owns the great manor houses in England? I saw a special about a very very large Manor House owned by some Count that is rented for a TV show last night...This place was enormous. They mentioned that in the past they redid a suite for a royal visit and spent a small fortune for the one night the Queen was to be there. This place was BIG and had I forget how many acres...It was mentioned that the land was as big as a small state...Could this be the set for the show you all are talking about??. The upkeep must be enormous. The Count didn't seem to have a occupation...Just being rich.....Very interesting special..

I cannot get into English drama shows. I liked Coupling, Top Gear and....and...and....well there might be one or two more that I forget

You probably eat quiche...just kidding. Whatever floats your boat. My wife and youngest daughter can't get enough of it. I've never been a big fan of British entertainment. I'm more of a Duck Dynasty guy!
