Last month after calling and waiting and calling for shipment to come in I purchased 3 bricks of 22 ammo. I really could not find what I wanted but purchased what I could. Why is this happening, Does anyone know reason

And it could be argued, it's the only reason DC finds the entire subject so radioactive! While it's inconvenient and sometimes expensive, it's nowhere near as permanently inconvenient as having none available due to over taxing over regulating politicians. They would be feeling free to go about doing their usual business unnoticed, if attention were not riveted on it?

As manufacturers ramp up to meet this "shortage" we will see a glut on the market. I figure that will take 6 months or so. There will come a time when most hoarders simply look at the thousands they have stockpiled and say "enough".

And that's when we will see prices and supply drop down to what it was last year. Price may be a little higher, but less than it is now.

My opinion, anyway.

Got lucky today. My buddy at WM set aside a couple boxes of .45 for me. Even with their 6 box limit it would have all been gone by the time I got there. They will do the same thing for me if they get any .380 or 9mm.

I was thinking the same thing!

As Wyatt Earp once posted here in response to a similar question, "Good morning, Mr Van Winkle."

Just gotta keep going back to WM. I scored again today. They got in some JHP .38+P. Guess the trick is to go every day and to make friends with the clerk.

Or have a son-in-law that works at WalMart in Wisconsin. Since that state doesn't allow concealed carry, they actually had a few boxes of .380 FMJ. Guess what I'll be getting for my birthday!

My favorite for my M-18 is Federal "550" from WM; its been out of stock for a while.

However, it is for sale on GB for like $30 a box!!!! No thanks, vultures.

Frankly, I think the biggest reason for the HUGE demand in ammo come primarily from the Blair Holt emails that arrive in on a weekly basis in everyone's inbox. The guy who used to a box of ammo is now buying 10 boxes, the guy who bought a case may now buy 8-10 cases and the guy who just bought a gun for the first time hears about the ammo shortage is buying more than he/she ever would have in the past. It has become a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Give it a few months and I predict a huge glut of ammo on the market.

That works if you live near your walmart or any ammo supplier for that matter. I live about an hour away and only make it into town about once a week. I have only been shooting for a little less than a year now, and have not been able to build up any ammo supply to speak of (not that I would stock up on WWB, that is just for plinking). Basically this shortage makes it hard for me to go the range weekly for my much needed practice. Although my nearest walmart just started limiting people to 6 boxes, so I now have a very small glimmer of hope to get some plinking ammo.
