Why did S&W discontinue the "Coke" grips?

I have now had my first sets of "Cokes" in my hand. Why did S&W ever stop putting the on their revolvers? They are the best fit for my hand and have the nicest feel to them. And, I think, they look cool as hell too.

For the same reason restaurants discontinue your favorite menu items....because "We can!". A show of 'blatant power!'.

Seriously, if it's about the 'feel', and not having to have 'the real thing', Altamont does have "Coke profile' stocks (grips...you pick!) available.

Standardization = Cost. Our favorite handgun company has struggled with production costs for a very long time. This is why many of the firearms they produce have two piece barrels, its far less expensive to rifle a long tube and cut various lengths out of it then thread it than it is to form differently shaped items.
