Why I Love Michigan...

Big brookies in the UP.
We've also got king and coho salmon, steelhead, brown and lake trout, large/smallmouth and white bass, perch, crappie, walleye, pike, muskey, sturgeon, catfish, smelt and a bunch of other species that don't come to mind.

Michigan also offers good deer, bear, turkey, grouse, duck and goose hunting. We had excellent pheasant hunting in the past. If you're lucky enough to draw a tag, you can also hunt elk.

We have more fresh water than anywhere else in the world, plenty of golf courses, woodlands, snowmobile trails and ski resorts.

There's only one poisonous snake (massasauga rattler) and they're very rare. I consider myself lucky to have lived here my entire life. The logging and auto industries brought a lot of wealth to the region and industry has been good. We also have excellent health care facilities.

I'll stop there, so I don't need to ding myself. ;)

You think that's bad...

Check out this "offer" I received from my electric utility. 100% of my electricity will be wind generated if I voluntarily pay extra, but my neighbors who don't get with the program will only have 15% of theirs come form renewable sources. I phoned them and asked, "Please explain how you can do that, when we're all hooked to the same power line?"
I was told that I just don't understand...

if you don't fully enroll you obviously hate the planet and want global warming..come on...it's only $18 more a month... :)

Michigan has so much beauty, history and destinations to make it a great state...I have lived here my entire life, 60 miles from where I grew up...that said...the politics, especially after the last two elections, taxes and just sheer stupidity and I am counting the days til I can retire and get the hell out of here.
