I have several hundred .22 Longs. I used them in my S&W M34 for a long time for general plinking.

You're not likely to find them at WM or other similar outlet, but any reasonably well equipped firearms-related store will have them.
The Long is the same case as LR with a 29 grain bullet. I don't remember if the powder charge is the same or not.
Learning something new.....

You must be a relative newcomer to shooting. I've shot all of these at one time or another over the years.

No, somewhere around 30 years
Im mid to upper 30's. born on a farm in Indiana, used groundhogs for targets, lettered twice in highschool marksmanship, moved to the traveling varsity team only two years in, ROTC rifle team 4 years, only ever outshot by Col. Yelk's daughter(true story), qualified "expert" at Ft.Knox, Now I live in Illinois, own my home/land in the boonies, & enjoy the hell out of some shootin' !
Dont drink, smoke or whore around. Own my home, land, vehicles. Only the wife, child, and taxxes keep me from finnishing that bunker in the backyard. I even have a room set aside for Chuck Noris

Chuck will make his own room! I grew up in the Batesville area down south. Those CB longs are a blast to shoot at wood targets in my scrap wood box out in the garage. with or without a can they are pretty quiet. took out the 2 dove that decided to make a next on top of the pillars on the outside patio, made short work of them, neighbors had no idea. i can shoot the 15-22 in the back yard with sub sonics and the can and it sounds like a red ryder bb gun. don't do it often though, just when i get a wild hair.
we used to target the ground hogs in the soybean fields off the fence of my uncle who lived next door to us with a .22-250. That was a long time ago, all subdivision now, but my mother in law sold the farm for some big bucks!! hope i'm still in the will!!!
