Will Pete Rose be voted into the Baseball HOF anytime soon now..... ?

Pete Rose, who gambled on baseball as manager of the Cincinnati Reds and lied about it for 15 years before dying September 2024 at the age of 83, had his Hall of Fame chances resurrected by commissioner Rob Manfred. Hmmmm, I guess only time will tell . . . . . who's in favor or opposed?

Pete may not care but his family, friends and fans do.

I have rubbed elbows with Pete many times. I even sold Pete Jr a guitar.

Pete was rough around the edges but he was the real deal on and off the field.

His merits and stats speak for themselves.

Considering how heavily MLB is involved in online gambling, they had no choice without looking like total hypocrits. It was a lifetime ban. He's no longer alive. As a player, he was one of the best to play the game. As a person, he was flawed. But the HOF is supposed to be about the player's performance on the field. So I'm OK with it.

I think he'll be inducted at some point (along with Shoeless Joe), but I don't think it'll be on the first opportunity.

He’ll be put in on the first vote with his name on the ballot. And I’m not really a Rose fan, but he was an outstanding player with first-vote career stats/resume. And baseball was his life.

Regarding his betting allegations/issues, I’m 100% sure that there are players currently in the HOF that have done a lot worse. I think Rose was blackballed because he was an arrogant *******.

Crude? Coarse? Yes. He lived and breathed baseball. Reds country appreciates his reinstatement.

His lifetime stats scream "HOF".

I think he paid for his mistake. I believe someone held a grudge against him for far too long.

The greatest player of his generation should be in the HoF.

Even though I am not a dyed in the wool baseball fan, nobody loved playing the game more than Pete Rose. I have always felt he deserved to be in the hall, as was mentioned there were miserable drunks and wife beaters that made it.

In 1966 my dad took me to my first MLB game at Crosley Field. Reds vs Cardinals. I was captivated and solidly hooked for life.
