Ok, I'm trying to get into the 3-gun game on the cheap. I found a used Winchester 1300 defender a few weeks ago.

I've run some 7 1/2 bird loads thru it just to test the action/function. Seems fine.

Can any ones say much about the 1200/1300 models?

I have a police model. nice gun but a little light for gun games IMHO. Recoil starts to beat me up after 25 rounds.

I have one for HD, cut down Ted Williams (same as 1300) 12 ga. It served as a duck gun for years and years guiding, still solid. Maybe a bit heavier than needs to be.

I've got two police marked and a shiny 1300 marine model with the black stocks. There's a light weight marine model out now with high viz sights. It's a Winchester made by Savage. I saw a used one in a pawn shop for $475 and the local Gander Mountain has one new in the Savage box for $399.00. I think it's called Winchester XPM or something similar. These are pretty good old guns. I have shot all of mine with no problems.

Got one with a 22" barrel for turkey hunting back in 1988....still have it and still hunt with it.......only weighs about 5.5 lbs and will kick the snot out of you, but it's deadly on those gobblers.

win mdl 1300, 1400's

not Winchesters best work imo. seen plenty of 1400's jam, likely over oiled. for a similar price look at a Stoeger, Benelli knockoff of the sbe. definitely Not a mdl 12, but what is.
