Looking to find out what a reasonable price would be for an old Winchester 52 Target rifle?? 28” barrel and has correct sights. Comes with the original magazine also. Only things missing are scope blocks on the barrel, but holes are neatly plugged with filler screws. Serial# puts the gun around 1929-30?? Very good original blue and wood finish, probably the nicest one of these I have run across in several years. Might try to snag it if the $$$ is right?? Thanks for any info./input!

what is the S/N. Sounds like an unmarked Pre-A. If in real nice condition maybe as high as $750, Run of the mill maybe $400-$500.

17,7XX with no letter. It is in really nice original condition with no refinish. He may be high on price at $1100?? Said he got it last summer on a trade.

I might go that high on a C, D, 0r E model. Try here and ask your question: Winchester 52 | Rimfire Central Firearm Forum You are looking at a Pre-A with a speed lock IIRC. Also look at the completed auctions on Gunbroker and look at the ones that actually sold.

Really good Winchester M52's that have not been modified and still in great condition are pricy to say the least! Back about 20 years ago I was unable to find one in the condition I liked and that had not been modified in some way, shape or form. I wound up not getting one.

As far as price is concerned, I am sorry I can't be of much assistance as I am no longer up on M52's. To me if it is all original with no mod's, that at least checks an important box for me. See how good a negotiator you can be and then make your decision. If you do wind up getting it, please post pic's.

Without pic's of the rifle it is real hard to come up with a price. They are all over the board depending on where you live and condition. Rule of thumb lately in my area is start at $900.00 and go up. Bore scope the barrel if you are serious about buying the rifle. Nice condition older M52's are getting harder to locate as time goes by but $1,100.00 isn't out of line if it's in good condition especially with a barrel that's been taken care of. Just remember, Model 52's have a funny way of multiplying if you aren't careful. Nice older ones can still shoot very well and may surprise you.

This can happen to you if you are lucky. He has 32 Winchester 52's from a three digit 1st year production to a couple of late E model. I admit I started him on this voyage!

I have one from 1933 in great condition. I mean really fine shape and all original sights and scope blocks and magazines. I took it to one gun show and got an offer of $800 and told the guy to pound sand. If the one you're looking at is in great shape I would think $1000 or maybe $900.

That was probably a good offer if from a dealer. Usually they offer well below the going rate so they can make an profit. Doesn't make sense for them to pay what they can sell it for.....no money to be had. I and my friend have been buying these for over 25 years. He never sells one as you can see. I, on the other hand buy and sell. Mainly I sell the ones I do to my friend or other friends at the price I aid for it. If I was to sell to a stranger, I would sell for a profit.

There is a auction house in Pa. where my friend lives. It is not unusual to see 52's for sale from estates. Western Pa. was home to a lot of match shooting in past years. I know some of the gun clubs still have matches there. At the auction house it is not unusual to see a Winchester 52 up for auction. Last months auction had one 52 Pre-A (S/N 2529) sell for $575.

A rifle like that around here would run around $700, maybe a hair less. $1100 wold be way too high in these parts.

Condition is everything. How is the stock, the barrel/bore, The Crown, is the trigger a fast lock. Does it have scope blocks, hand stop, etc.

In rough shape as low as $350 in really nice shape $1000 and up.
If the triggers are buggered up it takes a real expert to straighten it out.
