Some of you, might have seen the very recent add, in Shooting Times magazine, for Winchester's new 3/1 Segmenting Core Hollow Point.
This appears to be a direct copy of the original Quik-Shok design, made in Mexico, using Eley cases. I hope so, as the older round is the MOST devastating .22 small game/varmint round I have ever used.
This round has three forward fragments, with the lower solid rear core, for deep penetration.
A plus, is an additional couple of hundred feet/sec velocity at 1435 fps, with a 37 gr. bullet.
I liked the old round so much, I obtained another 500 rounds, from an individual on this forum. This has been a couple of years ago, so my supply is running low, and I am looking for a dealer, that has the new Winchester round in stock.
It should be great stuff.
CCI's Quik-Shok, in my tests, doesn't expand quickly enough for me.
The old Eley primed stuff, would make you think you were using a .22 Rimfire Magnum. It REALLY blows things apart.
