Hello all,
I'm new to this forum and I have a question about a Winchester pattern 1914 Enfield. It has been sporterized, rear and front sights removed, rear sight ears cut off, and the stock forend shortened. What scope base and rings should I use? New stuff or old NOS?
Thanks.

Welcome to the forum.

It depends on how the receiver bridge was ground down. In the past Redfield offered two types of Junior (one piece) scope bases for 1914s and 1917s. One fit with the bridge ground to match a Winchester Model 70 and the other fit with the bridge ground to the same radius as the receiver ring. Grinding to match a Winchester removed more weight.

However, garage bubba's haphazardly ground thousands of bridges to random shapes often only making the top roughly flat.

Welcome from Texas Big David. Great forum for all things S&W, have fun, learn lots, share what you know.

The Other Firearms section should be helpful.
