Does anyone recognize this etching on a 1956 Winchester model 12 Riot Gun?
Thanks for looking.

Update 6-13-23

This is the Washington State Reformatory model 12 after cleaning. Bought it from Forum member Marcus Von W. who is a standup guy.
Nothing like the sound of a "gauge" being racked to have a calming effect on some otherwise over zealous people.

I remember the first time I heard a senior officer covering with a 12 ga pump tell a car load of perps "Please don't make me use this, it hurts my ears."

Don't recognize it........... At a guess it could be something like "Wyoming State Reformatory" or some similar law enforcement agency. The rough electric pencil type of marking I have seen on other firearms with known LE origins. I can remember digging through a barrel of LE trade in shotguns at the old Sportland Guns in Bellefontaine, Ohio years ago, several were marked like this one but I don't remember for who anymore. Just a cheap, quick way to mark the institution and inventory numbers on a piece of state property.

I contacted the fellow I bought it from who lives in California, and he told me that he was always under the impression that it was indeed a Washington State Reformatory gun, acquired shortly after the 1953 Riot and takeover.
I'll post some pictures of it as soon as I get it back together from it's bath in Ed's Red.
Thanks everyone for your input.
