We are going to be in the DeLand Florida area in a few weeks and I was wondering. Is it worth going to the Stetson Museum there? I've read up about it and it sounds rather unique. Reservations are a must, but how far in advance? If anyone has any info about this please post. Thanks

The Stetson Mansion is nice and if you enjoy historic homes it might be worth a tour. There is the Gillespie Museum of minerals and the Hand Art Center on the Stetson University campus that might occupy a full day for both.

If you are staying in DeLand then you are just a moderate ride away from Winter Park with the Morse Museum of Tiffany Glass and Art which is very nice, as is Park Avenue for shopping and dining. A little closer, however, is Sanford with a great historic downtown area for shopping and dining. Of course you just missed the Mount Dora Art Festival which isn't too far from DeLand, but closer by is Blue Springs if you want to see the manatees.

Have fun!
