Been getting all kinds of reports about the Wolf .380 steel cased ammo. Has anyone used it in their S&W's? I bought it at a good price just to use as target ammo.

I've never used anything except brass case, but have friends who use Wolf and any other inexpensive ammo they can find. I can tell you that Wolf has caused the most malfunctions of any they use, and their weapons are filthier than a well-diggers back side at the end of the day. As for reports of steel cased ammo causing more wear, or breaking parts, I haven't heard them complain about any.

As I have posted many times, I have seen some individual S&W pistols that would jam this ammo and even stick cartridges in the barrel during heavy use, and many more that shot it fine, and I have never figured out how to tell the difference in advance. Try it and see?

I use Wolf in my Makarov (9mm). It's the cheapest but certainly the dirtiest. Not unusual for me to clean the feed ramp midway through a range session. I have not noticed any damage to the chamber. Not the best but shoot what you have.

IMO ( hundreds of rounds fired in 3 different .380 autos), the ONLY ballistically superior, and reliable ammo is Hornady American Gunner with the 90 gr. XTP bullet. :)

Steel cased ammo will NEVER damage a S&W firearm. In the very unlikely event it ever does, S&W will repair the firearm for free under their no nonsense life time worry.
