Does anyone have any experience with this ammo? It is brass case and copper jacket bullet. I seen several good reviews so I purchased 500 rds.

I put five rounds in the mag fired two and then the bolt would not go into battery. Long story short My Core-15 M4 Scout upper is now sitting in the barn soaking in PB Blaster because a live round of this stuff is stuck in the chamber.

I put the calipers to the wolf and found the case was within .003", of the circumference just behind shoulder, just in front of the rim and overall case length of 5.56 Agullia, 223 Gecio, 5.56 Federal, 5.56 Winchester, 223 PMC and 223 federal. I did not measure the shoulder angle or height.

I put 5 rounds of it through my Bushmaster with no issue.

Finally removed the stuck case, soaking all night in PB Blaster and Kroil seemed to not help much. Upon returning to the chore this morning the case remained stuck. I finally drove a brass rod in with a hammer:o and coaxed it right out:o, bore and chamber seems to be fine:). I put 30 rounds of 223 PMC bronze through it without any function issues. I then put it on a bench and it still shoots great at 100 yards.

This wolf gold functions fine in my Bushmaster I’m guessing the Core 15 has a tighter chamber? I really see no issues with the case other than the obvious broken rim from trying to extract and the bullet pushed inside the case from using the brass rod. Any thoughts on why this wolf gold would stick in the Core 15 and not the Bushmaster? I also discovered that this stuff is not lacquer coated it is brass cased with copper jacket.

Thought I would post this just to see if anyone else had any issues with this ammo. There is something different about this ammo. Im thinking its a combination of the tighter Core 15 chamber and the shoulder on the Wolf Gold.

In the AR crowd this ammo is considered one of the best out there right now . The stuff from IMI is good to go also .

Wolf = Russian poor quality stuff.

IMI is indeed some of the best.

Yea except wolf gold is made in Tiwan. But hey what do I know I just look this stuff up.

Wolf is a US company not a ammo manufacturer. They buy ammo from Russia and package it under their name. They also buy from everywhere else.

Wolf Gold was formerly made by PPU

Wolf is a trademark of Sporting Supplies International, a US company. Their ammo is MOSTLY made by Tula but their 22lr is made in Germany. Their Gold was made by PPU and now by PMC

I have since ran several of these Wolf Gold through my Bushmaster and DMPS with zero malfunction. I contacted Core and described the issue to them. They indicated that they would be sending me a shipping label for the upper so they could inspect it. They indicated that it may have a rough or scratched chamber.

This makes sense to me as I bought a new Rem 7400 17 years ago that had a rough chamber, right out of the box, it would pull the rim off of every 30/06 round fired. Sent back to Rem who polished the chamber and no more issues.

This Core-15 had 200-250 rounds of PMC Bronze though it and never acted up until I put the Wolf Gold through it. The Wolf Gold seems to be accurate as the two that went down range out of the Core were touching at 100 yards. My Bushmaster and DPMS seem to not be as accurate.

I have heard nothing but good things about the Wolf Gold (but only the Gold). Not so much for the other Wolf offerings.

I've shot quite a supply of Wolf Gold through my Sport without any issues at all and with good accuracy and consistency. I've also reloaded the brass with fine results.

My shooting buddies & myself have gone through a good 3k rds of wolf gold without any issues. Slide firing it was fine also. It's currently not on sale but every 6-8months you can find 1k rds of it shipped for $300 or less if your lucky & quick.

Never had an issue with it. Bought in bulk and have probably shot 900 rounds of it though my AR-15.

Just ordered 1000 round case of Wolf Gold .223 from sgammo.com for $299 plus $16 shipping. Stock is getting low.

Just received my sgammo.com order a day early. It is in perfect condition and a spot check of the ammo shows it to be clean and bright with a very consistent OAL and primer seating. Looks like a great deal to me for .30 per round.

If the ammo is suspect, it might be wise to buy a Go/No Go tool. If it fits fine in the tool then you'll know that it's the rifle's chamber that's the problem.

Wolf Gold is a good ammo, but not for reloading.

The Wolf Gold is excellent ammo. No misfire. No jams. Pretty good grouping from 100 yards. However, if you like to reload I would not recommend Wolf Gold. After sizing 835 once-fired cases I had 162 that would not size properly (head space .045" off). Out of the 162, 149 were Wolf Gold and 13 misc (PPU, LC). Otherwise, good ammo.

I resized 127 twice-fired cases. I had 16 Wolf Gold bad and 3 LC bad. My conclusion is not to save any more Wolf Gold ammo for reloading!!

The third pic seems to show some burnishing of
the lower third of the case...might indicate a
rough chamber.
