Did you get your 1086 apart to replace the firing pin spring? I know my instructions could have been more detailed. It's hard to remember the details late at night after a couple of beers.

I took my 945 apart today and found the firing pin spring needed cleaned and lubed. I forgot to mention that the plunger on the slide has to be depressed to push the firing pin into the frame. A kebbob skewer works well for the FP. It's a little tough to push out the slide part but it can be done. Instead of a wood dowel I used a stick of hot glue for a pusher. Talk about a non marring object that was easy to use the glue stick was great. No parts hit the floor so it was a good day for cleaning. Good luck with the springs. I just order all mine through Midway when I have more stuff to buy. They still get to you with S&H. Bruce

yes, i did get it apart. it was no problem at all. the only thing was that the springs that were giving to me were the wrong ones. so, i went to order the right ones from wolff... they shocked me with their shipping costs. i can buy a tune-up kit from midway for 28.99. but all i need is the firing pin spring & recoil.

Great news. Now you'll never forget how it is done. Most of the recoil springs I have bought from Midway came with the FP spring. That included Colt and Smith springs. It is always handy to have extras. Bruce

I just ordered a spring kit for my Mod 650 from Wolff directly. They charged $3.99 for 1st class mail. My total with shipping was $11.77. Pretty cheap for a needed action job! The $9 figure you saw was for UPS COD charges. At checkout, they offer a menu of shipping options. Try them again
