Bought a Ducks Unlimited Calendar for $50 last fall. They sell the calendar as a fund raiser. Each calendar has two four digit numbers associated with it. DU gives away a gun every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. If your four digit number matches the Missouri Midday Pick 4 number, you win the gun on the calendar. Today's gun was a DPMS Oracle 5.56 mm. My number came up.

Very groovy, congratulations!
Hows 'bout some pics?

Congrats.
Do you attribute this to clean living or just lucky? :)

Destiny . . . I'm pretty excited. My 5.56 AR is an original Colt AR15-A2, which I don't shoot a lot. I've got a DPMS LR-308 which I love, and I'm looking forward to shooting the Oracle often. I've got a spare red dot and a spare vertical fore grip in the inventory, but it looks like I'll need a quad rail, light, laser, and some Magpul magazines to go with. Practicing the phrase "Hey, this stuff isn't expensive. Remember I won the gun, so I don't have any money in it . . . "

Congratulations. Hope this gun was on your grail list.

Awesome feeling to win a gun. In about 1975 I bought a raffle ticket and won a Remington 1100 VR 20 gauge Skeet. A week or so later I bought another raffle ticket and won a Mossberg 500 in 20 gauge.

For me it's been 40 years and lots of raffle/lottery ticket with no winners.......

Enjoy it. Congrats again.

Good luck with your new rifle, it should make you smile whenever you shoot it.

Glad to hear happy stories like yours.

Well, it wasn't exactly a grail gun, but when I bought the calendar, I ran through it to see what the various prizes were. There were several guns, actually about two thirds, that would be on the trade block immediately. This one was on the keeper list. My only other 5.56/.223 rifle is an original AR15 A2 carbine which is too nice to toss around all the time. I bought a DPMS LR-308 last year and love it, so this DPMS will be a constant shooter. It's probably rude to call a new gun a beater, but it was free and that's my plan.
