Wooden spoke auto wheel I.D. help?

I am looking at this kind of like shouldazagged does. While I really don't care what the wheels/tires look like on a utility trailer I would hate to further beat up something that could be important to someone else. I think maybe I'll just take the old tires off the wheels and see how much work it would be to strip them down and see what is left of them. The wood actually looks very solid. My curiosity has been peaked and I would still like to know what they were off of. Maybe I just have to much time on my hands.

I think this is the best plan of action. There is also the safety factor. While the wood looks good on the outside, you don't know how good the center and the attachment points are. 15" rims and tires are cheap at the junkyard.

I wouldn't mind seeing a picture of the trailer. If it had these wheels on it I am guessing it might be interesting too.

Looks like wood to me....

And with the rays in the grain, I would also venture that it is White Oak.

I have been told that they were from a 1932 Chrysler Six. Nobody seemed very interested and I needed wheels for the trailer they were on so I put new tires on, prepped them and painted to match my Ford 49' 8N tractor. Probably won't put 100 miles on them in the next 20 years.

Old ways die hard

I guess everybody then knew that real wheels had to have spokes because it looks like it took a lot more effort to transition from steel to wood and back again rather than just stamp the whole thing out of steel. Probably wood was a lot cheaper in those days.

I think someone cut down a set of wooden Dodge or Chrysler 16" rims to fit a 15" rim. I have seen this done on farm implement when 16" tires became hard to find.
ALL 20 and 30" era Chrysler Corp cars rode on 16" rims, wood, wire, or steel.

Notice the cars with wooden spoke wheels. the spoke is longer than the OP's
That is one sweet car! All I got was a stinken axle and a couple wheels :-)
