Got a few different Bourbon's for the Holiday as gifts and last night was my first time trying the Woodford's Reserve Double Oaked version. I do enjoy their regular Reserve but their Double Oaked is spicy, smooth and slightly more full bodied. It was soooo good that I did not even add any ice. :)

While it is not cheap, anyone who enjoys a fine Bourbon should really give it a shot. Can't wait to find out how it fares with a nice Cigar :) but tonight it's about 11ºF here and am not interested in opening up any windows and turning on the exhaust fan. I'll wait 'till it thaws out a bit!

Great recommendation! My cocktail of choice lately has been an Old Fashioned, and I've been using Woodford Reserve Rye, which works very well in the drink. I've been eyeing their double oaked bourbon for sipping neat.

All I got was a bottle of Japanese whiskey from the grandson and a bottle of 12 year old scotch from the stepson..... :(
Have to buy my own good bourbon it looks like...

You shouldn't have a hard time finding someone to trade. Unless your grandson and stepson reached down for the bottom shelf (which doesn't really exist with Japanese whiskies anyway), either one of those is likely worth double the price of a bottle of good bourbon ;)

I was at the liquor store this afternoon an had my hands on a bottle/box of double oak Woodford Reserve, it was a toss up between Woodford Reserve or a bottle of 10 year old Bulleit. the 10 year old won. but there is always tomorrow.

I know it's a personal thing - but I have Bulliet also and the Woodford's blows the Bulliet away - at least for my taste. Yea - Bulliet is good too, :) but the Woodford's .... Mmmmmmm :) ;)

There are so many great whiskeys out there and Double Oaked is one of the best. There are many others but they are very hard to find. I wish I could find anything with the Weller name on it. I haven't seen Blanton's in several years. The best I think I've ever had was the Jefferson Presidential Reserve. It cost $141 for the bottle but O...M...G! I save it for special occasions now.

Those are sipping whiskeys. Good drinking whiskey starts with Four Roses Yellow Label. Others of note are 1792 and Angel's Envy if you want something a little different. It is aged in olod port wine barrels.

Ice will kilt your liver dead.:D

For a standard whisky/whiskey(of reasonable good quality) dose. Just add some 4 to five drops of good water to enhance the flavour.
