Would You Trade?

now thats funny! but hey, thanks for all the comments and sorry for the confusion, but im the ruger owner and someone wants to trade me for their HP Smith. Its a friend and he likes rugers and only has $350 in it, so i made him an offer something of that value! Thing is, he turned me on to the previous owner and told me that he had some guns for sale, so i went to the mans house to find out that my buddy had been there just 10 minutes earlier and scarffed this highway patrolman from him, so the way i see it, it should have been mine anyway! And i would still have my ruger? I guess i did ok, RED

Agreed, absolutely make that trade! That early 5-screw Highway Patrolman (ca. 1954-1955) with genuine stag stocks, even with its honest wear, is worth twice (or more) the value of your Ruger. I think bigmtnman's estimate might be low- perhaps $1100 with those stocks. .22s are fun to shoot, but vintage .357 Magnums rock!

Ruger fans don't get me wrong because I like some Rugers but that trade would not be anything I would be interested in without a significant kick from the Ruger owner. You can do anything with that Model 28 if your not happy with it, they were considered the ultimate "Franken-gun" when they were plentiful and cheap. If you wanted a .44 special that was your ticket because they used to be common and relatively cheap compared to an factory .44 or Model 27 for conversion.

I did trade my Ruger for the Smith. I'd like to get a nice set of service grips for it, just don't want to pay what they are asking! Especially when they won't be numbered to my gun. RED
