Looking for a particular revolver. My father, a retired Lieutenant for the Pierce County Sherriff's Dept. in Tacoma, WA, passed away last year. I inherited his Colt Mark III Trooper, however I am trying my best to find his service revolver which was returned upon his retirement.
I have worked with Chief Karr and the County Firearms Range to get this:
June 1987 to Retirement – Smith & Wesson 686, 357 magnum, 4” barrel, stainless steel, serial #AVE5551.
I also had a S&W historian confirm the above.
According to the Sherriff's dept, it was decommissioned and sold in a lot to The Marksman gun shop in Puyallup, WA. Unfortunately they do not have any transaction records before 2001.
If you happen to own this gun or know someone who has the same model - could you please check the serial number? I would love to speak to you about what it might take to acquire it. Potentially buying the same make & model in trade? I open to anything.
Also, if anyone has any suggestions as to how i might track it down that would be great.
