Picked this up recently firstly due the age of this DS and secondly the stampings on the butt, "A.P.D.No36". Have no clue as to what department. Although my location in NC is not a stones throw to Atlanta Ga. it's not across country either ( about 6+hours). Perhaps it's Austin Texas or ??? Someone knowledgeable about Colts & police markings could throw some light on this. Am not familiar with Colt factory markings and in fact had to be shown where the S/N was. According to the Wilson's Colt's Dates of Manufacture, it was born in 1934.
After closer examination, and having asked a friend for an opinion, I believe it was refinished. This is in spite of the fact that all lettering, stampings, the rampant Colt and no dished out screw holes showing signs of refinishing.…………………….$975.00 +shipping.
