In June of 2019, I wanted to duplicate the basic build Ross Seyfried described in "The Ultimate Revolver?" in the April, 1998 issue of Guns & Ammo. I sent an email to Bowen but did not get a reply but later discovered his prompt reply went to my spam box. I then took a chance and called John Gallagher, who answered the phone. We discussed the project, and he mentioned he was ill but offered to do take on the project as he felt it would be a quick turn around. It was the fastest turn around I've ever experience from a gunsmith.

I sent him a LNIB old Bisley Vaquero, 5.5," in .45 Colt. He performed the following work.

Action work, ream frame to correct base pin alignment, ream cylinder
install oversize locking base pin
remove burs, polish internal parts and receiver, set trigger at 3 lbs
ream cylinder throats .4525, polish chambers, polish leedes
Remove end shake, free spin pawl modification, re-cut forcing cone and crown

Black-powder chamfer cylinder
Taper barrel to remove lettering, install sight, serrate front sight
Refinish barrel, screws, cylinder, base pin etc.
Color case hammer, receiver and loading gate
Test fire, regulate sights at 25 yards

It's not in the invoice but he checkered the front of the ejector rod end.

The only negative besides the wear, is the way the front sight was re attached after serration and the angle cut to reduce glare. Please see the attached photos.

I purchased it LNIB and it appeared unfired. I have fired 650 rounds. It has shot multiple loads well and has been carried a lot since, as shown by the wear. It was always promptly cleaned each time after firing.

I have the original invoice and all email correspondence with Mr. Gallegher, which will be forwarded to the buyer.

I can take more photos if needed and forward the original ones posted here.

$1000 plus shipping to your FFL. USPS MO, bank cashiers check or BofA or USAA personal checks. No trades. Buyer will call my FFL and pay for the shipping option they want via debit or credit. Cross posted on multiple forums.
