I picked this up locally and really don't have a need for it. I appreciate the history of it, but someone else will appreciate more.
This is a pre-victory lend/lease gun. SN is 894330. It is marked "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" on top strap. The flaming bomb is present on the bottom of the grip. Made in the USA on right side of the frame. All other stampings appear to be proper British proof marks. 5" barrel with some blued finish left. Serial number matches on frame, cylinder, and barrel. Grips are period correct, but numbers do not match. Lanyard ring is MIA.
It will not chamber a 38 special, but will chamber 38 s&w (has not been reamed). Obviously, she is in pretty rough shape (there is rust present, some pitting, dings dents and scratches, bore appears Ok). The gun appears to be fully functional and the cylinder locks up pretty tight. I have not shot this gun, but the timing seems on and the firing pin isn't worn down/broken.
From information gathered here and elsewhere; I'm going to ask $340 shipped CONUS. Cheaper locally. Preferred method of payment is USPS MO. These really aren't my expertise...if I'm way off on pricing, I imagine I'll find out by the lack of chatter. Please PM with any questions. Thanks.
