WTS/WTT:
There is one pistol that has caught my interest lately. I'd be willing to take an HK VP9 as a partial trade. Maybe a Smith 5903 or 4566.
Up for sale is one of my Sokol custom revolvers. I spec'd out this revolver myself and the genius Karl Sokol did a beautiful job executing it. I would keep it but I have a safe full of Sokol K-Frames and have another project to finance.
This custom K-Frame started life as a 4" .357 Magnum Model 65. I like the 2-1/2" barrel length but I don't like the short ejector rod on factory Smith revolvers with barrels less than 3". I had Karl shorten the original 4" barrel down to 2-1/2" which required the elimination of the front cylinder locking point at the front of the ejector rod. As a replacement, there is a ball/detention locking point on the yoke. The muzzle has been recessed and the barrel slab sided to cut down on weight and to eliminate what was left of the barrel roll mark. The barrel was dovetailed for a Millet plain black blank (pictured is a fiber optic sight but that has been replaced due to a poor sight picture with the factory rear notch). This is the same sight I had Karl install on my custom 3" Model 13.
Now working back, the chambers have all been chamfered for faster reloads and the hammer has been semi-bobbed. I elected to leave some of the hammer spur to make it easier, and safer, to thumb it back a little to manually spin the cylinder to ensure you don't have any binding from a high primer. Every sharp edge has been "dehornend" to make shooting and carrying more comfortable. Then there was the issue of the square butt grip. I had Karl convert it to a round butt configuration so I could use the same Precision Gun Specialties smooth nylon grips that I've used on every Sokol custom snub for the past 23 years. The finished has been bead blasted.
Now moving inside, the action has been smoothed but not lightened (liability) and also converted to DAO (liability, again) with an internal over travel stop installed.
Not to sound negative about the S&W Performance Center, but I've owned PC revolvers in the past and Karl's work outshines anything coming out of the PC. Not that PC guns are bad, but Karl's work is truly in another class. The 66 F-Comp I owned was nice but my Sokol K-Frames are amazing. If you like PC revolvers, you'll love this Sokol masterpiece.
I have only fired 50 rounds of .38 Special since the customization.
Price is$1750 $1550 shipped and insured from my FFL to yours. This is the one and only price reduction. I don't have to sell it so if it doesn't go for this price I'll just start carrying and shooting the hell out of it. My goal is to wear out my guns from honest use, and have a great time doing it, before I can pass them on! I will not accept any cash offer lower than $1550.
