**SOLD**

As I refine my collecting interest, I just cannot find the love for four inch guns. So, I am offering my 1956 44 Magnum up for trade. My primary interest is a high condition (98% or higher) 44 Magnum with a 6 1/2 inch barrel. I will consider pre-29, 29, 29-1, or 29-2 (only S serial number guns) that have factory Coke grips and the original finish with no indication of a return to the factory. I prefer guns with a factory letter, but am negotiable. Obviously I would expect cash on your part to get to a fair trade. If you have the factory presentation case and tools, that is a plus but not a requirement. I can trade my 44 Magnum alone or with the presentation case and tools.

I would also consider a five inch pre-27, 27, 27-1 or 27-2 (only S serial number guns) in high condition with or without a factory box and tools. Another option would be an early 6 inch Model 57 with the factory presentation case with velour lining.

This is a nice opportunity to fill a difficult gap in a 44 Magnum collection since there are very few of the four inch 1956 guns known to the collector's association. Local TN trades would be fine, but also willing to ship out of state.

Up for trade is my four inch 44 Magnum that shipped on November 6, 1956 to Sargent Sowell Co., in Grand Prarie, TX. This is one of 13 known four inch revolvers to ship the first year of production. I purchased this from Lee Jarrett last year. The revolver is in 96% condition with some muzzle wear, wear to the high spots of the frame and cylinder (probably due to some time in a holster), a few scattered freckles, and a few scratches on the sideplate. The revolver shows very well, but want to describe the condition accurately. I can email many more high resolution pictures to interested buyers. Last year I found the correct pebble grain four inch presentation case and tools for this revolver, which can be included in the sale. Also included is the factory letter confirming the barrel length, finish and shipping date. Interesting note documented in the factory letter is an in house repair before shipping that resulted in only three digits of the serial number being stamped on the face of the cylinder. The was probably the result of a quality check during the fitting process. Also, the grips were professionally restored. If I did not tell you, I doubt you would ever know, but want to provide full disclosure. The presentation case is in fair condition and there are no serial number markings on the bottom of the case. I am not a gunsmith, but have fired the revolver and did not experience any issues. I am looking for the specific trades above or will sell it outright for $2,750 shipped for the revolver without the case and tools or $3,150 shipped for everything.
