Two Walther no.4 Imperial marked German pistols (32 cal.). One was made by Walther and the other by a company asked to help build their pistols, Muffert. (around five companies altogether were used by Walther.)
Thanks for looking,
Joe

Other pictures of the Walther (same pistols as above) with Imperial marks and different type of barrels + the other holster.
Thanks for looking,

I love this place! sometimes the info you are looking for just shows up right in front of you! Let me explain. Recently A friend asked me to go up to Tennessee to clean out the family home as it had sat vacant for the last ten years. When I left he gave me a piece of paper with a combination on it, he said if I found a safe this was the combo. Well I did and found some very interesting items, one was a S&W model 10-5 that was probably brand new when it was placed in the safe another was a Colt 25 auto and a Walther model 4 that his grandfather had brought back from WWII. This model 4 appears to be identical to yours but without the "M" stamp. It is however missing the grips I would like to find a pair of grips to make it complete and give it back to him all cleaned up. Sorry for the long post but the story goes with the gun. The serial # is 224167 any idea of how old it is?

Kaiser, If you just want replacement grips, you can get plastic replacements on the web. If you want the real thing, call this#(412 672 6830 Jim Shaffer) Call him next week. He is on vacation this week.
As for the age, they were made before WWI and into the twenties but I'm not sure how far into the twenties. (Punch in Walther4 history) (looking for others if anyone has one for sale?)
H.T.helps,
Joe

224167 is within the range that could have been used by Germany in WW1. The range is between 30,000 and 275,000. Only about 75,000 were used by the military between 1915-18 and bear the military acceptance mark. It is also possible that individual model 4's were used during the war and not be acceptance marked.

Karl was left handed. IMO he HATED right handed people. This is why he made his pistols like that. Later, they made the P38 the same way. I don't know if the P38 designer was left handed or just a sadist, but it throws the empties at my eyes every time.
I have no proof that any of those people were left handed. But it's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Pilgrim, I would tend to agree with you. If its your gun you make the decisions on how it's made. You have to admit there had to be a reason for his thinking and that makes sense!
